Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The song blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The group managing the campaign have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
