The state attorney general has introduced a new online portal encouraging citizens to submit visual evidence of federal immigration enforcement across New York. This move follows a day after a significant enforcement action rattled Manhattan's Chinatown, prompting large-scale outcry.
A lawmaker revealed during a Wednesday press conference that four US citizens were detained and held for "nearly 24 hours" after Tuesday's raid. Protests erupted in NYC on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
"All New York residents has the right to exist without intimidation," state officials wrote in a announcement.
"If you witnessed and documented ICE activity during the raid, I encourage you to share that evidence with us. We are pledged to reviewing these reports and investigating any wrongdoings."
The platform provides spaces to upload visual evidence of the operation, as well as a area to note location information. When submitting, submitters must check a checkbox that acknowledges that "the attorney general may use any evidence provided in a public document, including in a legal proceeding or official statement."

"There's a clear purpose here. It is not about removing offenders," Goldman stated. "This constitutes a armed campaign to provoke unrest. It is merely a pretext to generate turmoil for the government to bring in the armed forces to halt conflict that they initiated."
Fury over the immigration operation quickly spread – every mayoral candidates condemned the operation, along with Governor Kathy Hochul.
"Once again, the Trump administration chooses heavy-handed tactics that generate terror, instead of protection. It must stop," one mayoral candidate stated.
The city's community groups spoke out too.
"Immigration agents raided Manhattan's Chinatown with armored transports, covered personnel and tactical gear to focus on local sellers attempting to earn income. This action had no connection to public safety and everything to do with intimidating residents and neighborhoods," remarked the president of a major immigrant coalition.
Official guidelines prohibits the holding of citizens and the organization has claimed it refrains from apprehend citizens. Yet, independent reporting has revealed that over 170 US citizens have been held against their will by ICE since the beginning of the present government.
