Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
