At least 16 people were killed and in excess of 40 were wounded when attackers fired on a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian police are describing as a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, officials have stated the death toll is 16, which includes one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 people with injuries were transported to the hospital.
Those who died are yet to be officially identified, but authorities state their ages span from 10 and 87 years of age.

London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Reportedly a father of five children, he served as the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and friends spoke of him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very kind and sociable person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, according to his wife.
She recounted the events before the attack, saying they had been standing together when the shooting started. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she stated.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having faced unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had subsequently relocated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
The French authorities have confirmed that French man Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Officially, a senior official declared that France stood with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a revolting outpouring of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the message continued.
A child who was rushed to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, according to police reports.
One victim from Israel was among those killed during the attack, as per reports citing the Israeli government.
From the 42 people taken to hospital, many are still receiving treatment, with five in critical condition. The injured include two police officers who responded to the attack.
One of the injured is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the gunmen. Hailed as a local hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also noted the response of those who came to assist. He stated he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the attack. He told reporters he listened to “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I’ve been shot myself. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
