This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as pardoning holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
