Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
