Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a traffic collision in California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio that he helped create.

The renowned video game developer passed away following his car crashed and caught fire on a highway in LA on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"We are facing an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his loved ones, and all those touched by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
